Crash leaves semi-truck dangling over I-35W in Fort Worth amid heavy rain

Wet roads are being blamed for a crash that left a semi-truck dangling off of an overpass in Fort Worth.
Fort Worth – Multiple lanes were closed on I-35W near Everman Parkway in Fort Worth after a semi-truck struck the highway barrier and was left dangling over the guardrail on Thursday morning.
The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. Thursday as heavy rain swept through the area, which may have contributed to the incident.

Initially, the semi-truck was nearly vertical over the edge of the overpass and onto Everman Parkway. Crews removed portions of the cab of the truck around 9 a.m., but the cleanup is expected to continue.
Multiple lanes are closed on I-35W and Everman Pkwy in Fort Worth. Crews are working to move the semi-truck.
Everman Parkway is fully closed, and the two right lanes of I-35W are also closed as crews work to clear the scene.
The crash led to long delays.
Then, just before 6 a.m., a five-vehicle pileup half of a mile from the semi-truck crash stopped traffic in the opposite direction of the crash.
Fort Worth police say a small passenger car rear-ended another small sedan, starting the chain reaction. Two people inside the first vehicle were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown. A third passenger died at the scene of the crash.
Their identities have not been released.
